‘Hush Now, Adults … The Children Are Talking’
Drawing on fifteen years of experience working as a teacher and specialist arts educator, my signature talk is about the impact of changing how we interact with children. 'Hush now, adults ... the children are talking' is about harnessing the often-overlooked transformative power of chat. This formed the basis of my talk at TEDxWalthamstow in October 2024. 'Hush now, adults...' is available as a 15 minute keynote. A more developed interactive 1 hour or 2 hour workshop is available, which builds on these ideas - this workshop is titled 'Remaining human as an educator'.
I am a confident keynote speaker, and I also train teachers and other creatives about the teaching of reading, writing and oracy. I've been a keynote speaker at the UK Literacy Association International Conference, Little Wandle Teachers' Conference, Cambridgeshire Festival of Education and 'Get Hounslow Reading' Conference. I have led training and workshops at the Practical Pedagogies conference in Cologne, and with Shiv Nadar School in each of its four campuses in India.
I can support you to create memorable and entertaining child-facing educational content. This can involve advising, scriptwriting and editing, as well as presenting directly on videos and podcasts. I worked with Michael Rosen to create a mini-series for his highly-successful YouTube channel.
